The Monk’is and Vision Art Golf Trophy 2023
Like every year, the VAF closes the season with a golf tournament, “The Monk’is and Vision Art Golf Trophy”, in partnership with Monk’is Bar. The tournament takes place on the 9-hole Jack Niklaus course, which runs alongside the forest, and ends with a prize-giving ceremony and raclette à gogo on the terrace of the Monk’is Bar. In 2023, the Miss Universe Switzerland team made a stopover in Crans-Montana and some of the candidates lent a hand to the golfers on the last putt.
Battle of Styles 2023 | 50 years of Hip Hop
The 2023 “Battle of Styles” or style competition for young artists will be held on 29 July in the Chetzeron car park for the 5th time.
16 emerging artists, selected by dossier and living in Switzerland or neighbouring regions, will compete in 2 categories, illustration and lettering, on a special theme:
50 years of hip hop ,be selected for VAF10, the anniversary date of Vision Art Festival,

FONDUE ON THE LAKE MOUBRA
We’re always trying to create experiences for visitors and they can be either artistic or something else with just a touch of art.
One of our ideas was to use the existing pedal boats to create a beautiful, new and fun experience, fondue on the lake by pedal boat. With the help of some master woodworkers and artists, we created the perfect table for our pedalos and voila, a floating restaurant powered by leg power.
And every year from July to the end of August, weather permitting, our floating fondue table on the lake can be booked for you, your family and friends. Enjoy the sunset over a mountain lake with one of the best fondues in the world!

SWISS MASTER | 22.6.2023
This Vision Art Festival exhibition brings together the first and second generations of Swiss graffiti artists. Up to 14 artists such as Naegeli, Tones one, Reyism, Serval, Demes, Ckesa, Seyo, Crbz and Onetruth will be showing how they were influenced or were influenced by each other, and how they influenced future generations.

BATTLE OF STYLES 2021
Each year the theme chosen for the battle is different. This time it’s the rainbow and its colours, the gradation of red, from yellow to green to blue, even purple, in fact as many colours as the eye can see!
A symbol of hope, the rainbow is a projection into the future, it is beautiful and fascinating to watch. Its ephemeral nature makes it even more fascinating.
VISION ART CAMP X FONDATION OPALE X FONDATION TSCHUPPI
The success of our school project led us to one conclusion, we need to do more in order to stimulate the creativity of our local kids, the result was the Vision Art Camp.
For that we decided that we had to collaborate with the most important art institution we have, the Opale Foundation, world leaders in aboriginal art and its influences on other art forms.
Luckily enough for us they where game to host the camp kids for two days, so the kids got inspired in the museum looking at the exhibition and then started their own journey in the midst of great artworks.
After the first days it was time to apply the new skills on a wall, Cma was ok to lend us a wall in their parking so the students expressed themselves during three days under the supervision of Rosalind Monks and CRBZ. The Tschuppi foundation was also a big help to realize this project and helped with funding. Go and check out the result in the Crans parking level 3.
VAF X AMSTRAMGRAM / VAF KIDS
Amstramgram is the main event for kids in Crans-Montana, it is kids pardaise over a long weekend, with a lot of workshops, concerts/magicians and clowns.
Of course we could not miss such an opportunity to be part of it, so every day during the festival we porpose a VAF kids workshop with some of our dearest artists present.
Every year has a different theme, in 2022 the kids shaped environmental conscious panels, that will be put up around our lakes so that people don’t throw their trash away.
VAF x CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE
The 8th edition of the Vision Art Festival was a very special one. Retour a l’école – back to school- for everyone. Thanks to the regional animation and cultural committee and the school board we were able to introduce street art into the world of education, a first in Switzerland at least.
Why first, because we didn’t just paint with school kids, for a timespan of 6 weeks students had several afternoons of graffiti class during school hours. Every one of our 7 school centers had an invited artist who would create an art piece with all present students.
VAF X VIVA CON AGUA
1er Pédalo Grand Prix Crans-Montana
This year we started a new event on the Lake Grenon in order to give a bit back to others, but in the VAF way- having fun. The Viva con agua NGO is the best partner for that. So in order to help VIVA with there South African water project we decided to create a Pedalo Race, a charity event for water on water. All entry fees go directly to Viva con Agua.
To make the event even funnier we have a special course and a special prize for the best dressed team.

VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X CEDRIC MABILLARD | MONTANA-VILLAGE
Local graffiti legend Kesa was the last one to start his urban art experience with the students. He decided to make the student concentrate on how to handle a spray can, how to handle it, how to hold it and how to create basic pieces. His idea was to let the students each have a piece of the wall and at the end he would connect the dots and the see how it looks.
The result is a place of great creativity with a basic outline to hold all these colospots together. And create a single art piece.

Baudelocques obsession with the universe and parallel universes can be seen in his artworks and that is what he wanted to transmit to the students. He made the students observe the sky, discuss what they feel and then start making them paint.
The biggest challenge for him was to make the students understand the difference on scale and angle if you paint on a wall compared to a sheet of paper. After a half day of getting used to the differences the children where allowed on the wall, where Baudelocque had already sketched a piece and the students had to complete the artwork with their imagination. It was also new for them that you can do street art not only with cans, but also with crayons.
VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X CRBZ | MARTELLES
Lausanne born calligraphy artist CRBZ had a difficult task to create a wall and integrate every single student, however the youngest at his school was 5 and the oldest 16, so how to give everybody the same importance? CRBZ decided to look at his wall piece in layers and assign the different ages to the layers, protection, background, outlines, fill out. His mission was to have all 104 students write their name in calligraphy, but there was a little problem. How do children who are learning the write going to learn a calligraphy alphabet? The solution was that the younger ones had to choose an older student who will then write his name on a wall, in counterpart the younger student had more possibilities to express himself with colors.
The result is amazing a wall that looks like painted by the artist himself.
VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X GUILLEN | PAVILLON GENEVOIS | 2022
Spanish artist Guillen who is living in Crans-Montana had a difficult task, create a nice professional looking wall piece only with primary school children. But who could he achieve it? The students are to small to handle a can, and we know how clean a 4/5 year works once he has paint on site.
But Guillen had an idea, let them create the whole wall by themselves, students were given the task to create shapes- circles, squares, triangles,…- in 3d material. Guillen then used these forms as stencils to paint outlines and the students filled them out.
The shapes were the first step of the wall, the second was even more fun for the kids.
Let the creativity begin, Guillen drew a snake and each children had a scale to fill out with a drawing that was straight from his imagination.
VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X ROSALIND MONKS | LENS | 2022
In Lens Rosalind first sent her students to the woods to learn to observe their environment and to detect patterns in their day-to-day life. Back in the classroom the students had to create different patterns they had seen.
The second step was to choose from different wildlife animals in the surroundings as a vehicle for these patterns.
Rosalind then created the outlines of this enchanted forest and the children had then to fill out the animals with their own patterns.
VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X FLEUR BLUME | RANDOGNE – MOLLENS | 2022
Having smaller children in her attributed school French artist Fleur Blume had the task to teach her “assistants “how to do stencils. In a three-step system the students learned how to create their stencils and use them. After the first steps on small papers and with pencils in the class, came the big days and the work on their walls.
The outside stairway is now a wonderful homage to the birds flying around the school.
VAF X CRAC – RETOUR À L’ÉCOLE X TONES ONE | CYCLE D’ORIENTATION CRANS MONTANA | 2022
Geneva based graffiti legend Tones One introduced the older students to the world of tags. After presenting himself and his history to the students they directly got an introduction to the world of graffiti and had to create their new artist’s name. Once done they started to develop their own tag under the supervision of Tones.
In close collaboration with the students, it was decided that he would create a giant sneaker and the students could all put their new tag on the big shoe.
Hence the CO was our graffiti hotspot
VAF X FONDUE SUR LE LAC “LA REVANCHE”
We always try to also create experiences for people, and they can either be arty or something else with just a little twist of art.
One of our ideas was to use the existing pedalos to create a nice fondue on the lake experience. With the help of some master wood craftsman we created the perfect table setting for our pedalos and there it was – a floating restaurant- operated by leg power.
And every year again from July to end of August, if the weather is good our Fondue on the lake restaurant is open for you and your family and friends. Enjoy the sunset on a mountain lake with one of the best fondues around.
VISIONICS GALLERY
The festival was always conceived as an open air museum, that you could visit by bike, foot and ski. So we created big paintings around town and the slopes.
Together with Organics by Red Bull we wanted to take that concept further. So we decided to create the equivalent of a real museum. On our wall paintings the frame is nature, but in the garage of Crans/cry d’er we decided to put up real frames. Golden stuck ones with artworks inside and a little etiquette to describe the work and show where the depicted small artwork is in real life in Crans-Montana.
So if you want to visit the Visionics gallery go to the Crans/Cry d’Er parking and wander around the staircase.
VAF X CAFÉ 1900
During the 2021 edition VAF created in association with the 1900 an art cafe, the whole menu and a part of the restaurant was redesigned.
Guests could enjoy arty crepes and a cocktail menu that was in alignment with the Wes Anderson island cafe.
VAF ISLAND X LOS BITCHOS
During two years VAF had the opportunity LOS BITCHOS had the chance to transform the island of the Lake Grenon into a little intimate bar.
The first year the island was transformed into a hommage to Christo wrapped into a pink cloth.
The second the whole lake became an hommage to the wonderful world of Wes Anderson movies.
Every one of his movies had a little hint, from the Tennenbaums tennis court to the giant floating Wes.
In collaboration with Organics by Red Bull the bar served a specific cocktail for every movie.
VAF X FOIRE DU VALAIS
In 2021 the biggest event in our state, the Foire du Valais, with more than 230’000 visitors gave us the opportunity to design an area in the fair and also host some live paintings.
We created a 5m tall 3d rotating mouth. Tones One, Reyism, Crbz, Cedric Mabillard and Kespo had some live performances during the 2 week event. Last but not least Los Bitchos created a giant interactive sticker art piece.
Battles of Styles, Illustration + Lettrage 2020
The VAF Battle of Styles is a style competition in 2 categories – Illustration and Lettering – for young artists.

VAF X MONKIES GOLF TROPHY
Since the second year VAF has decided to host an arty golf tournament, especially designed to thank our sponsors/partners and other friends of the festival.
The tournament is hosted on the Jack Nicklaus course and is a scramble of 2. The golf club of Crans-sur-Sierre has been an exceptional host and after the tournament we have a big raclette for everybody on the Monkies terrace
