GYPSBERG & GOGUESEV

Raja Gypsberg & Emunah Goguesev are a fictitious duo of two female artists created by Jo Vargas (Switzerland/Colombia) and his collaborator.

The original concept was seeing freedom through the distorting of iconic pop culture subjects with sensual connotations.

The “SORRY ROCKET” was launched during the first edition of the Vision Art Festival as well as “Niki” the unicorn, however later in the season there was an attempt to kidnap her. The local police had to step into the surreal world of art and knock on doors asking if anyone had seen a 13 meters unicorn named NIKI.

In early spring, four months after her disappearance and following the snowmelt NIKI was found by a hiker 100 meters from where she was abducted. Ropes cut and grass marks on her side, from being dragged, little did the abductors realize that even if she was inflatable she weighted nearly a ton. This attempted abduction made the headlines in local, national and international press.
